Sing to the LORD, all the world! Worship the LORD with joy; come before him with happy songs! Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock. Enter the Temple gates with thanksgiving; go into its courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise him. The LORD is good; his love is eternal and his faithfulness lasts forever.
Pray: (During these fourteen days of Thanksgiving, we will repeat the same prayerful expression from Psalms each day as an act of thanksgiving and as preparation for further reflection on the importance of gratitude in all of life.) "It is wonderful to be grateful and to sing your praises, LORD Most High! It is wonderful each morning to tell about your love and at night to announce how faithful you are" (Psalm 92:1-2, CEV).
Reflect: Although God chose Israel to be the people through whom he worked, God loves the world and all the people he created to inhabit it. Why should we remember this fact? What did the psalmist mean by, "You know the LORD is God!" (verse 3)? What items are mentioned in this psalm, for which we should be grateful?
Respond: Take time during these days to research the subject of Thanksgiving online. Read how what started as an immediate and personal expression of gratitude to God for survival and supply has gradually turned into a holiday we take for granted. Decide to intentionally practice gratitude this year.
